FAQ for Current Learners & Alumni
Current Learners
Will the rebrand affect our current programs or curriculum?
No, the rebrand will not impact your current program. Learners who complete their programs on January 1, 2022 or after will receive a Certificate of Completion from Bloom Institute of Technology, not Lambda School.
What kind of changes can we expect during our time in School or with Outcomes?
The main changes you can expect are branding updates on our main website, the Hub, and some curriculum that previously referred to Lambda School. You will not lose access to any resources: Learners will continue their current access to curriculum and job search support.
Can we change our tuition type to one of the new tuition options?
No, active learners may not change their tuition choice.
Why are my classmates in the exact same program paying a different tuition?
The tuition options are tied to when the learner enrolls in the program. When there is a tuition change as has occurred now, all new learners would fall under the new tuition offerings. Therefore, there may be a cohort of learners on a mix of BloomTech’s new pricing and Lambda School’s old pricing options.
Do we get free future access to new programs developed by BloomTech?
Your tuition amount covers the cost of tuition for your current program. Learners who are interested in continuing their education in other programs offered by Bloom Institute of Technology would be required to pay the tuition for any additional programs.
Why did you choose the name Bloom Institute of Technology?
We chose the name Bloom Institute of Technology because of our belief that our learners can grow their careers and reach their goals. We are committed to cultivating opportunity for even more people so learners can jumpstart rewarding careers in tech.
Can we still say we graduated from Lambda School? What should I put on my resume? What will my transcript and/or certificate of completion say?
If you graduate after January 1, 2022, your Certificate of Completion and transcripts will say Bloom Institute of Technology. For your resume, you may list Bloom Institute of Technology or Bloom Institute of Technology (formerly Lambda School).
If I am job searching, how do I represent my program/Lambda School accurately on my resume, linkedin, in interviews? How do I/should I use Lambda School vs. Bloom Institute of Technology?
To represent the program and school accurately you may list Bloom Institute of Technology, formerly Lambda School on your resume, Linkedin and in interviews.
Does it affect my repayments if Meratas now says BloomTech instead of Lambda School? I signed an ISA with Lambda School.
ISA servicers have been notified of our name change. Learners are not required to take any additional steps to report their income to Meratas or Leif and may report as they would normally; your ISA terms and repayment obligations will not change.

Why are there new pricing options?
We have evolved our pricing model so BloomTech is more scalable, flexible, and outcomes-oriented than ever. Our pricing model ensures BloomTech and our learners are both invested in educational and career success: We make education more accessible by taking on some financial risk, while learners can choose to fund their training with a range of payment options. We designed the payment options to meet the needs of job-seekers in a variety of circumstances so they have the autonomy to select one that best matches their needs and ambitions, and worked to ensure our Outcomes-Based Loan continues to have zero upfront costs.
How does this impact me?
The changes to our pricing model do not impact you as a current learner. These new options will be in effect with new learners whose cohorts start in 2022 and after.
Can I switch to one of the new options?
Sorry, no. Your ISA will remain unchanged.
Why are we asking for learners to pay a down payment on top of the ISA?
Our new pricing model encourages learners to invest in themselves—and their education—while BloomTech continues to take on some financial risk. In the last four years, we have found that the learners most willing to invest in themselves—in time, effort, and finances—are the most successful. Their investment helps align their and our commitment to an education that leads to a rewarding, fulfilling new career. With our continued focus on accessibility, we understand that some learners do not have the means to pay any costs upfront, which is why we also offer our Outcomes-Based Loan option with zero upfront payment and our new Unlocking Potential Scholarship to aid qualified candidates in this process.
Can I renegotiate my ISA given the new options?
Sorry, no. Your ISA will remain unchanged.
FAQ: Alumni
Is my certificate of completion and transcript from Lambda School still valid?
Yes! You graduated from Lambda School and no one is taking that from you.
Does this change how or to whom I make my ISA payments?
ISA servicers have been notified of our name change. Learners are not required to take any additional steps to report their income to Meretas or Leif and may report as they would normally; your ISA terms and repayment obligations will not change.
Do we get free future access to new programs developed by BloomTech? Will I retain access to the curriculum I went through and/or all old programs?
Your tuition amount covers the cost of tuition for the program you went through. Learners who are interested in continuing their education in other programs offered by Bloom Institute of Technology would be required to pay the tuition for any additional programs.

Learners and graduates whose tuition has fully vested (i.e., those who have completed a number of sprints equal to half of their program length) will receive access to Codex for their previous Lambda School / BloomTech curriculum regardless of whether they receive a Certificate of Completion. Learners who withdrew or were withdrawn before their tuition has fully vested - even if it has partially vested - will not receive access to Codex.
Should we change our resumes and LinkedIn to say Bloom Institute of Technology?
Your LinkedIn will remain tied to the historical Lambda School page so your certifications/degrees will show up as they have been on your profiles with no changes. However, you may choose to manually update them to say Bloom Institute of Technology (formerly known as Lambda School). You may also choose how you’d like to update your resume - including keeping it as Lambda School or updating it to Bloom Institute of Technology (formerly known as Lambda School).
Do we need to get new Cred.ly certificates?
No, your certificate and transcript are still valid for the program that you completed.
Will Lambda School lose its reputation or credibility with hiring companies?
We are actively working with new and existing hiring companies to ensure that they understand the changes and that we maintain a strong relationship with them.
Why did you choose the name Bloom Institute of Technology?
We chose the name Bloom Institute of Technology because of our belief that our learners can grow their careers and reach their goals. We are committed to cultivating opportunity for even more people so learners can jumpstart rewarding careers in tech.
What does the new logo mean?
BloomTech is all about bringing two sides together: we bring together motivated learners and employers. When these different sides unite, we create opportunities that are more impactful than anyone could form on their own. The BloomTech logo represents this transformation.

We also wanted to give a nod to coding brackets, representing the foundational skills we teach that help our learners achieve new careers.
If I am job searching, how do I represent my program/Lambda School accurately on my resume, linkedin, in interviews? How do I/should I use Lambda School vs. Bloom Institute of Technology?
